Benefits of Massage

Massage has been shown to have several benefits. These benefits include stress relief, managing chronic pain, reducing anxiety, improving sleep, reducing muscle tension, and improving blood flow.

Some people may see more benefits from massage than others. Everyone is different so what work for helping one person might not necessarily help another. Keep this in mind when scheduling an appointment and it helps to have a realistic outcome in mind if you're getting a massage to target a specific issue. In other words, don't expect one massage to be enough to address all of the issues you might be having, it may take several appointments to start seeing long-lasting results.

Types of Massage

I offer a variety of massage services! Here is a brief summary of the massage therapy services I offer.

Relaxation Massage

Does life have you stressed out? Or maybe you're just looking for a general massage and aren't interested in deep-tissue work? If either of these ring true then the relaxation massage is for you. I will use long, slow strokes to help relax your muscles and decrease your stress levels. The goal isn't to cause any pain or discomfort working on problem areas, but just to help create a relaxing experience to help get your mind off of things.

I recommend adding aromatherapy, hot stones, or both to help enhance your experience!

Deep Tissue Massage

Do you have areas that are particularly sore or constantly tight? Maybe regular relaxation massages aren't enough to address your problem areas? If that's the case, deep tissue massage may be what you need. Deep tissue massage involves using heavier pressure and specific techniques designed to target problem areas on the body. Lighter pressure is used at first to help warm the muscles up and then the pressure is gradually increased to make sure the pain level is kept to a minimum.

Please keep in mind that deep tissue massage isn't meant to be very painful. There may be slight discomfort when working on sensitive areas, but it should never reach the point where you're wincing in pain or fighting back. If too much pressure is applied too soon, the muscles have a tendency to tighten up in order to protect themselves. If the muscles tighten up, it is much more difficult to receive an effective massage.

With this in mind, never hesitate to tell your therapist if the pressure is too much.

Sports Massage

Are you an athlete or do you live an active lifestyle? Then a sports massage is for you! Sports massage is designed to treat problem areas that arise during physical activities. The body and muscles can take a beating when training for sports events or even during recreational exercise, so receiving regular massages can help keep the muscles in check.

Sports massage can be pretty similar to deep tissue massage, with the difference being that sports massage is targeted more towards treating conditions that arise due to athletic activities. For example, the therapist might do extra work on your hamstrings in order to help prevent a hamstring pull while running or sprinting. Another example would be helping to increase your range of motion in the lats in order to make pressing a bar overhead easier. It is important to let you therapist know the types of activities you engage in so that you can receive a massage aimed at addressing your particular needs.

Just like deep tissue massage, sports massage is not meant to be painful. There may be areas of discomfort, but you should never be wincing in pain during the massage. You won't see the full benefit if your muscles keep locking up in order to protect themselves if too much pressure is used.

Couples Massage

Are you and your partner looking for stress relief together? A couples massage is just what you're looking for! Each person will be working with their own therapist during the massage. Each person will receive their own customized massage that addresses their own needs. This means that if one person is just wanting relaxation and the other person wants a deep tissue massage, both people can be accommodated.

Hot stones and aromatherapy are both available as add-ons for couples massages too!

Please keep in mind that when you sign up for a couples massage you are requesting a time slot. I will need to check in with other therapists to make sure they are available during the time you request. I will respond to your request within 24 hours and let you know if the appointment time works. If the other therapists are not available, I will do my best to find a time that works for everyone.
